Introduction: Warcraft Nations TL 20, is a continuation from the original Warcraft Nations thread posted by Leore/Austin which takes twenty years into the future after the eventual death of the thread. Several of the nations have been changed and altered, through my own predictions of what would occur realistically and with the assistance of a few individuals who had participated in this FRP previously and assisted in providing me with information upon their own plans. If you participated with the original, and something that you hoped occurred and you had been planning to have happened did not. I apologise, but you can chalk it up to a plan that never came to fruition because of the political landscape or what-not.
(History)
I will go through the history, in a very bullet point fashion providing key dates for events that occurred throughout the world as it has been recalled. We start out at year -5 which is five years before the start of the great war, year 0 being the start of the great war of Azeroth which shook the world.
- Spoiler:
Year
-5; The Kingdom of Gilneas declares war upon Lordaeron, both nations begin to quickly mobilise. Lordaeron having already begun, for the fear of the Troll Menace. The death of King Terenas occurs while his son is held captive by the Greymanes. Misgivings are heard through-out Gilneas controlled Hillsbrad. Meanwhile, Stromgarde, Alterac, and Dalaran all remain neutral within the conflict. Within the Dwarven Empire, the Kingdoms began to call for autonomy within the Dwarven Senate. The creation of a centralised church within Stromgarde has begun.
-4; Gilneas and Lordaeron have come to blows, Lordaeron begins to gain ground taking Silverpine from the retreating Gilneans as they fortify Shadowfang and Pyrewood. Lordaeron finds itself in debt, shelling out incredible amounts of gold to The Steamwheedle Cartel to gain a leg-up on the Gilneas. Swiftly mobilising, meanwhile in the rest of the world the gears of industrialisation began to whir. Factories coming online throughout the Human Kingdoms. Southshore, seeing their opportunity declare independence from Gilneas striking a deal with Lordaeron and being given recognition for their fight against the vile Gilneans. Southshore and Stromgarde also entered into a deal, Eastern Hillsbrad being granted to them for an alliance. Within Alterac, they face an unparallelled boom time industry filling the skies with smoke. The Necromancers within Dalaran begin to turn their people, each individual slowly becoming Undead more and more begins to rise. Meanwhile, within the lands of Lordaeron the King states his outright hate for Necromancy. House Barov, is less than pleased.
-3; Lordaeron is shaken with the slaughter of every Noble known to of practised Necromancy, the people cheer with the death of the nobles. A House of Commons being formed, to act on par with the remaining nobles within the House of Nobles. Relations between Dalaran and all other nations begins to sour, as the centralised church of the light paints them as horrifying indecent individuals raising the dead and turning the living into the undead. Meanwhile, Lordaeron and Gilneas form a truce with the assistance of Alterac all of Silverpine being given as well as the recognition of Southshore as an independent state. The truce coming after a bloody defeat for the Gilnean military. The Summit of Alterac is held, all of the leaders of Humanity coming together to speak of the mobilising troll threat. All are surprised when an Elf arrived with the King of Lordaeron speaking of their Alliance and their intention to destroy the Amani. The summit ends swiftly, whispers of a troll being within the summit begin to spread throughout the human kingdoms.
-2: Kul’Tiras discovers the land of Kalimdor and is the first to begin colonisation efforts, meanwhile on the continent of the Eastern Kingdoms whispers are heard of a massive stone structure being created within the heart of the wetlands. In the North the Dalarani, lift their city high into the sky and fly away the massing forces of a coalition intended to destroy them begin to stand down. Hillsbrad acquiring the former land of the Dalarani, arriving just before the Alteracians could claim it. An offensives against the Trolls begins, Lordaeron forces being sent into the Amani held Quel’Thalas to begin fortifying the land. Meanwhile, the Quel’Dorei begin a beaching operation with the support of the Lordaeron navy upon their former capital of Silvermoon. As the year begins to end, a meteor is seen streaking across the night sky. Crashing directly in front of Menethil Harbor, leaving a massive crater. The Wildhammers are the first to inspect the land, finding Blue Goat people in some ship the call the Exodar. After short deliberation they discover that they are The Draenei, and that they mean no harm. The same information is told to the Humans of Menethil Harbor who welcome the Draenei. Assisting them with food and shelter.
-1: A plague begins to spread throughout the nation of Lordaeron, as well as Alterac and Hillsbrad. Hundreds die, from this unknown plague the greatest doctors throughout the kingdoms cannot discover what is causing the plague. However, with the capture of a Troll they discover the truth it’s a form of magical warfare upon the Humans to halt any advance into their lands. Infuriated King Arthas demands for the elves, and the new Human Magi of the Tower of Lordaeron begin to research a cure for this plague. Meanwhile, the bombs begin to rain upon Quel’Thalas a massive hulking ‘Airship’ as it is called lifts into the sky dropping hundreds of bombs onto the forest clearing it and allowing for the army to advance inch by inch. Within the Hinterlands, the Trolls sally forth crushing the small guard forces at Durnholde and Tarren Mill thousands of Trolls surging forward raping and pillaging as they went. Only to be halted at a River fortified by the people of Hillsbrad, the mountain passes of Alterac and Thoradin's mighty wall controlled by the Stromgardians.
0: The Great War Officially begins. Gilneas, betraying their truce with Lordaeron and Southshore assault the two. Forcing swift lines to be drawn by both Hillsbrad and Lordaeron. Meanwhile, the Quel’Thalas campaign comes to a stall the Amani fighting back with powerful magic and an endless number of Trolls. Lordaeron continues its’ bombing campaign, to this end the Industrial powers of Alterac and Hillsbrad begin to pump out endless numbers of weapons. Lordaeron providing them with the means to make bombs, as they themselves begin to rapidly industrialise the previous speed of industrialisation quickly being eclipsed as these three powers begin to trade a massive amount of weapons and goods between them. A construct begins, a suspended railroad across Lordamere lake to facilitate the transfer of goods and men between the three powers. And through their ports, the goods and soldiers make their way to Stromgarde to assist in fighting the vile Trolls as they smash against their walls. However, Stromgardian attention is quickly diverted as another threat arises. Within the Wetlands, reports begin to circulate about massive demonic beings slaughtering the small villages of Stromgarde and the Wildhammer Dwarves. Without delay, Stromgarde sends soldiers to investigate to find the reports to be true as well as The Draenei having begun to fight back against the vile demons with the assistance of the men of Menethil Harbor. The Wildhammer Dwarves began their offensives against the demons, only to be pushed back to Grim Batol. Sending out request for aid from the rest of the Dwarven Empire.
1: Without any help in sight from the Empire, The Wildhammer Dwarves strike up an Alliance with the Stromgardians. The Stromgardians respond in kind, freeing the siege of Grim Batol and forming a coalition strike force. Meanwhile within the Imperial Senate of the Dwarves, the Bronze Beards though once fiercely loyal demand for the current Emperor to step down. As he has done nothing to assist the Wild Hammers that fell under siege and they had to turn to the Humans. The Emperor Refused, and Ironforge declared independence from the Empire. Just as well Lower Ironforge declared independence from the Empire and began to focus on the internal strife it had. Knowing it was too weak to fight the rest of the Dwarven Empire the former Emperor of the Dwarves stood down from pressing his claims and began to wall himself up within the Crownlands. Massive fortifications being constructed to maintain his territory.
5: The Gurubashi officially declare war upon Lower Ironforge, seeing the weakness within the Kingdom as the Humans have begun their revolt against Dwarven rule. Just as well, The Steamwheedle Cartel declares war upon the Gurubashi seeking to claim more territory within the jungle of Stranglethorn. Within the first few months, the Gurubashi see unprecedented resistance with the construction of a massive fortress at the entrance into Duskwood. The fortress one larger than they had ever seen, thousands die at the battle for the fortress.
6: Tens of thousands died, but with the instability within the Kingdom of Gilneas Lordaeron and Hillsbrad finally destroyed the former Monarchy. Liam Greymane, losing his head along with the majority of his nobility only to be replaced by a Federal Government. Lordaeron, having taken massive concessions up to the former Greymane Wall. Now, a fortification used against the Gilneas to keep them isolated.
7: The stalemate against the Amani has finally been broken, the coalition force of Alterac, Hillsbrad, and Stromgardian has finally after the endless crawl broken through the Amani line and began to push into the Hinterlands. A bloody campaign lay behind and head, hundreds of thousands of Trolls have already perished alongside tens of thousands of humans. A cure had been found for the magical plague, the priests of the Light and the mages begin to work with one another to distribute it to all afflicted with the disease. Meanwhile, in the Wetlands the campaign against the demons has turned sour. The Draenei have been forced within the fortified city of Menethil Harbor, the land surrounding it crawling with demons. The Stromgardians have been forced just beyond the Thandol Span an uncountable number of demons constantly being slain only to be replaced by another.
8: With the final push in Quel’Thalas by the massive air-force of Lordaeron, it signals the end for the Amani their capital being burned and all within slaughtered. The war against the trolls, officially ended the coalition forces slaughtering any that could be found both in Quel’Thalas in in the Hinterlands. Though many Trolls escaped, and they are said to of begun reformation deep within the Hinterlands none of the soldiers wanted to continue to fight within the dense forest of the Hinterlands. As such, they withdraw fortifications being constructed at the entrance, to slay any that should try to flee through it. The King of Quel’Thalas officially declares his loyalty to the Kingdom of Lordaeron for their effort in reclaiming his homeland. With the destruction of the Amani, thousands of Quel’Dorei are found and freed from their captivity from the vile Amani.
9: With the defeat of the Amani, Lordaeron, Alterac, Hillsbrad, and Stromgarde enter deliberations upon the territory Hillsbrad holds after the war. That being Tarren Mill, and Durnholde. With the threat of the Legion and them constantly losing ground the Stromics offer Durnholde to be recognised as a part of Hillsbrad in exchange for the assistance against the Legion. Hillsbrad accepts. Alterac, with much coxing from Lordaeron agrees that Tarren Mill should be part of Hillsbrad but requires a large sum of gold in exchange for the province. To which Southshore readily agrees. As the politics in the North continue to unfold the Stromics and the Wildhammers are nearly broken, being pushed across the span the Stromics attempt to buy time by blowing it. However, what they did not expect was the affinity of these creatures with magic. Having little need for an existing bridge, they simply created their own using magic to cross the span and lay siege to the hastily created wall. However, the Wildhammers seem to fare better as the Bronzebeard Dwarves and the Gnomes of Gnomeregan come to free the siege of Grim’Batol. With the newly bolstered ranks, they begin a slow advance into the Wetlands against the demons.
10: Lordaeron forces arrive at Menethil Harbor, relieving the siege and fully entering the battle against the Legion. The newly christened Knights of the Silver Hand aiding in the fight, led by none other than the former War-Hero Saidan Dathrohan. Hillsbrad and Alterac forces arrive to reinforce the Stromic army, and they slowly begin to push across the newly constructed bridge back into the wetlands.
11: Slowly, the forces begin to consolidate around the Dark Portal as it has been called. Constructing a massive wall surrounding it from all sides, manned by the Dwarves the Draenei, and the various races of Humanity. However, the forces of the legion maintain control of the Dark Portal. The Humans and Dwarves are able to maintain a constant siege however. The first settlers from Lordaeron arrive on the cost of Dustwallow, establishing a small outpost in the name of Lordaeron.
15: Lower Ironforge and the Gurubashi Trolls sign a peace-treaty, the Gurubashi provide the Dwarves with a large amount of gold. Discovering that even with the magic that they hold they hold they could not penetrate the massive walls of the fortress.
20: Start of the FRP.
